The Information Officer represents NRC Afghanistan and must develop strong and fruitful relationships with many different actors in order to fulfill his or her tasks. The Information Officer shall at all times behave in a respectful, cordial and professional manner and always act in accordance with NRC’s Code of Conduct.
• Maintain NRC Security Section’s master operations map.
• Inform and make recommendations to SA about travel authorisation considerations.
• Train key staff on security reporting and information feed procedures.
• Work closely with field staff in developing information networks and identifying key contacts throughout NRC operating areas.
• Cover for FSO's during their absence or leave and therefore be prepared to travel outside Kabul for significant periods on a regular basis.
• Report on, analyze, and forecast potentials, which may change security for NRC.
• Prepare situation reports with recommendations as required.
• Map the authority structure in all regions.
Qualifications
• Political science study at university level
• High level of IT literacy
Essential Skills
• Regional and cultural knowledge of areas of NRC field operations in Afghanistan
• Demonstrated high level analytical skills
• Fluency in English and local languages
• Ability to read and interpret maps (very important)
• Willingness to work long hours when required
• Able to travel outside of duty station to NRC field offices as frequently as required
