Job Summary:

The Cook is responsible for the effective management of all ASI – EAST office and guest house kitchen in Afghanistan including Kabul guest house/offices.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The international Cook is responsible for the following tasks:

• Monitor and maintain office and Guest house food, soft drink, and water supply.
• Supervise the offices cook Assistants and make sure they are on the same right recipe.
• Cook lunch or dinner for international / local staff and guests in the office, provide enough meal for personnel.
• Clean guest house / office kitchen and dining room.
• Prepare daily dinner meal.
• Prepare food in a sanitary environment and on professional manner
• Ensure vegetables and fruit are sanitized properly.
• Work with cleaners to ensure kitchen and dining area are continually cleaned and sanitized
• Notify Operations Manager or facility supervisor of kitchen needs or issues with kitchen equipment.
• Interact with international and local staff.
• Other tasks as assigned by Senior Operations Manager or Chef

Job Requirement:

• High School degree in relevant field required or equivalent experience.


• Minimum of 4 years experience in relevant positions. Experience working in a similar position for an NGO or an international organization is preferred. USAID funded project experience is a clear plus. Must have willingness to travel to DAI Afghanistan field offices / Guest houses on DAI business. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment is a must. In addition, must be flexible, willing to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and work irregular hours.
