Job Summary

The senior management team and board members have decided to recruit an expat (International) Fundraising Director, therefore OPS is looking for a qualified fundraising Director who has more than 2 years experience in fundraising. The fundraising Director needs to be a self-starter and very flexible and be willing to work part-time initially though the location of employment is flexible.. The Fundraising Director will coordinate activities with OPS by email and phone communication and may be required to visit Kabul. The main focus of the role is to ensure that OPS meets its funding targets from a range of donors within Afghanistan or from outside the country. Please refer to the TOR for more details and clarifications.
OPS can offer a contract up to three months initially, up to $2,000 to $ 2500 USD per month. The contract and salary will be reviewed upon the successful progress in fundraising. OPS will be also responsible to pay monthly communication costs up to $100 USD. This will be for Top up card which will be used for official use only in order to communicate with donors or other purpose in fund raising. The fundraising Director can work from his current office or home. In case he needs any other flexibility, OPS will be happy to discuss and negotiate.

Duties & Responsibilities

• The fundraising director is responsible for ensuring that these goals and targets are met within a given time frame. The fundraising director is required to establish and maintain good relationships with donors.
• The fundraising director is responsible to check all sites who announce bids through internet such as Afghanaid, Acbar, Peace Dividend Trust, USAID and others.
• The fundraising director is responsible to research and evaluates new fundraising techniques and makes recommendations based on the organization's goals and objectives.
• The fundraising director work with the executive director of the organization to outline the fundraising goals, timeline, and so forth. Based on these criteria, the fundraising director will research potential sources of funding, including grants, past contributors, new donors, corporate contributors and foundations
• The fundraising director is responsible to contact donors and submit project concept notes and full proposals when required.
• The fundraising director is responsible for building strong relationships with donors and ensure that OPS is registered with a range of donors, including NGOs, foundations, bi- and multi-lateral institutions to ensure that OPS is eligible to submit bids
• The fundraising director is responsible to arranging meetings between potential and existing donors and the OPS executive director.

Job Requirements

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in sociology, international development, community development, economics, business administration or a related field.

Desirable Skills and Attributes:

Good communication and presentation skills.
Able to communicate his desires as well as the needs and objectives of the organization in a clear and convincing manner.
Good interpersonal skills are an asset to win donors over.
Good in writing skills and fluent in speaking English.
At least two years working experience in related field.
Knowledge of funding rules of USAID, the EC and DfID
Experience of writing successful bids
