About Ministry of Education (MoE):
The aim of the EQRA Project is “to increase equitable access to primary and secondary education, particularly girls, in selected lagging provinces, and to improve learning conditions in Afghanistan.” EQRA introduces a shift from monitoring only the enrollment of students (which also includes attention to students designated as ‘permanently absent’) to focusing on bringing children into school as well as student attendance. The Education Quality Reform for Afghanistan (EQRA) is fully aligned with the goals of the Afghanistan National Strategic Plan (NESP III). The project is designed to (A) increase equitable access in disadvantaged districts especially for girls; (B) improve quality of instruction/education service delivery and (C) enhance MoE governance and management capacity. The project focuses on the construction and expansion of schools, provide community-based education to out of school children, reform curriculum for all grades, improve and ensure textbooks delivery to schools, enhance academic supervision, strengthen teacher & TTC quality, improve execution of budget, strengthen and increase use of EMIS, implement capacity building reform, and reform recruitment process for civil service.
To provide operational and technical ICT support to MoE employees in order to enable Service areas to operate more effectively and efficiently. He/ She will have proven local area network support experience, excellent problem solving and customer service skills. The MoE ICT Help Desk Support candidate will report to the MoE, ICT Director.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Ability to configure Microsoft Windows server 2008/2012 based Domain Infrastructure, DNS server, DHCP server, file server and backup server.
Ability to understand and maintain Network devices (CISCO Switches/Routers/ NAC/ACS etc)
Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of all communication equipment’s such as VSAT, microwave, wireless network, IP phones etc.
Quickly respond to problems or interruptions in network access and provide ongoing support to MOE staff and troubleshoot them accordingly
Stay on call when out of the office to help staff with problems or questions related to the network
Assist in the maintenance of systems and equipment by carrying out routine tasks, such as backing up data, monitoring network and systems, servers and peripherals, running systems diagnostics, patch management and system optimization, removing viruses etc.;
Diagnose problems related to cabling, client computers, printers and applications and take corrective measures
Maintain and apply measures for good working condition of telecommunication equipment at the office
Assist with the installation, modification and maintenance of LAN/WAN components including cables, disk operating system software, application and utility software, various interface cards, hard disks, user computers etc.
Ability to configure, deploy and monitor Kaspersky enterprise wide server
Provide specifications regarding ICT equipment’s to various departments when requested
Stay up to date with the current technologies, especially that are used by Ministry of Education
To perform such other tasks as may reasonably be required by the ICT Director
The candidate must Bachelor’s Degree in ICT, Computer Science or any other related fields. with 3 years of work experience.
Experience in configuring and maintaining Windows servers and client computers
Ability to manage and priorities own workload and work independently.
Proven ability to work in a team
Pragmatic and analytical approach to problem solving
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines
