Job Summary

The PDI Information Technology SQL Instructor is responsible for the successful delivery of IT unit programs in Kabul as well as in PDI branches (if required) – Professional Development Institute (hereafter “Institute”). The Institute provides executive education and professional development training. It works in close alliance with AUAF academic units to provide high-quality services that advance the University’s mission and public image, and to provide the University and its supporters with more visibility and an enhanced reputation for leadership in the establishment of international best practices in Networking, Databases, Web & Application Development, IT Management, and other areas within Afghanistan and the region.

Duties & Responsibilities

Teaching Responsibilities:

1. As part time, the IT Instructor will teach 12 hours per week;
2. Lessons are delivered according to the PDI schedule and are purposefully planned and managed in accordance with the course objectives, class needs, and quality standards;
3. Teaching materials produced to adapt and supplement the course are appropriate to students’ needs and expectations;
4. Students are assessed according to IT unit policies;
5. Homework is set and marked in a timely manner;
6. As an Instructor the IT Instructor undertakes to arrive in good time for classes (at least 15 minutes before class);
7. The Instructor is responsible for presenting a professional image in appearance and demeanor;
8. Class records (including attendance) are kept in the hard and soft copy. Enough details should be given to enable a substitute teacher to take over the class;
9. Maintain and update the course curriculums and outlines as per the standards;
10. Dealing with students queries and problems;
11. Preparing the curriculum and presenting the material to his or her class is one of the main duties of an instructor;
12. The instructor will assist the test administrator in conducting the online exams in the PDI testing center; and
13. Other tasks that instructors may complete includes holding office hours, ensuring that class materials are up to date, reviewing curriculum and demonstrating professionalism in dealing with others; and
14. Perform any other task given by the direct line manager.

Management Responsibilities:

The main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. IT instructor is responsible for instructing IT professional courses to the students. He guides and assists students in their entire learning experience, including welcoming them to the class, creating a curriculum and presenting all class information;
2. Encourage the students to study books and refer them to use the library books for their subjects through any means such as conducting seminars, workshops, information sessions etc.;
3. Helping in achievement of IT unit strategic objectives;
4. Helping in achievement of PDI strategic objectives;
5. Maintain and update the course curriculums and outlines as per the international standards of IT partners of PDI;
6. IT instructor is also responsible for supporting the IT staff during the exams and to maintain the quality;
7. Develop course plans and schedules for the instructors and keep them update;

Job Requirements


The position requires the incumbent to reside in Afghanistan

At least a bachelor degree in Computer Science / IT. Master’s degree will be preferred

At least 2 years prior teaching and administration experience in IT courses and field

Must be MCSE certified in data platform (SQL Server 2013 minimum)

SQL Server 2016 certified will be an advantage

English, Dari and Pashto languages fluency

Manages with meticulous attention to detail

Excellent interpersonal skills

Program management experience preferred

Experience in administration

Superior written and oral communications skills

Sensitivity to religious and cultural differences

A team-oriented individual interested in helping participants achieve result
