NATO Afghanistan - Resolute Support , Multi Location
Resolute Support is a NATO-led, non-combat mission. It was launched on January 1, 2015, following the conclusion of the previous NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission, and the assumption of full security responsibility by the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF). Its purpose is to help the Afghan security forces and institutions develop the capacity to defend Afghanistan and protect its citizens in a sustainable manner. The mission performs supporting functions in several areas. These include: operational planning; budgetary development; force generation process; management and development of personnel; logistical sustainment; and civilian oversight (in order to ensure the Afghan security forces and institutions act in accordance with the rule of law and good governance).
The incumbent produces print and radio products and conducts atmospheric surveys and occasional video and photo projects per direction.
Conducts interviews, researches, provides original photographic content and writes articles on a variety of themes related to the mission and relevant to the Afghan population.
Produces finished radio products in support of Radio Bayan.
Conducts information gathering for TAA/MMA including audience surveys, media monitoring, and polling.
Accurately translates text as required into Dari/Pashtu/English.
Monitors local, national and international news in order to maintain knowledge and awareness of current events.
Operates in directed/designated geographic location(s).
The employee may be required to perform a similar range of duties elsewhere within the organization at the same grade without there being any change to the contract.
The incumbent may be required to undertake TDY assignments as directed consistent with PSYOPS mission requirements.
The work is normally performed in a typical office/secure facility environment. Slightly Undesirable Conditions apply.
Working experience as editor in a newspaper, magazine or radio/TV station.
Working in an international environment.
Language:
English: Satisfactory level of written and spoken language skills.
Dari: Good level of written and spoken language skills.
Pashtu: Good level of written and spoken language skills.
Note: The normal working language within the organisation is English.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic knowledge of still photography, handling digital cameras and sound recording.
Basic cultural expertise of target audiences in the theater of operations.
Sound knowledge and expertise in ADP-based lay-out (Adobe In-Design etc.).
Knowledge of radio production techniques including script writing, recording and editing.
University Degree in Journalism or Social Science Field.
Reliable, independent, and works well in a team environment. Highly motivated with good interpersonal and communication skills.
Journalists produce various types of media products and collect atmospherics in support of the mission.
Regular professional contacts with others inside and/or outside immediate organisation on functional matters. Solicits/gives information and provides advice/guidance.

Additional Remarks:
An initial 12 month contract will be offered and contract extensions may be possible. Because of the dynamic environment, RS posts are under regular review and therefore post details and responsibilities, including contract duration and contractual grade may change during the advertising and contractual period.
Benefit Package:
Monthly salary of € 1,064.00 Meal Allowance of € 185.00 per month
