Coordination of Rehabilitation and Development Services for Afghanistan (CRDSA) is a non-governmental and non-political humanitarian organization working in sectors of Sustainable Livelihood, Human Rights Promotion, Civil Society Strengthening, Returnees/IDPs Protection and Re-Integration in Afghanistan. CRDSA was established in 2002 and presently is operating in Herat, Farah,Ghor , Nimroz and Badghis provinces.

Job Summary:

The legal Awareness Officer has to oversee the different legal and professional activities which the project may be involved in.

Skills Description:

  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Must have sufficient skills in clerical/Administrative tasks
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Should be familiar with legal topics, case resolution and laws.
  • Experience in of informal justice system is an asset
  • Should be familiar with the procedures of formal justice system.
  • Should be skilled in working with a team.
  • Good knowledge of computer (Ms. Office).
  • Must have the skills of documenting activity on the field/ground

Duties & Responsibilities:

1- Coordinate project activities on the field.

2- Conduct regular capacity building meetings for project beneficiaries in target communities.

3- Distribute awareness materials in project beneficiary area.

4- Conduct Awareness Raising sessions for the local Shoras.

5- Facilitate the conduction of workshops/trainings for formal/informal justice actors and project beneficiaries.

6- Develop action plan, monthly report, and activity report.

7- Oversee the comprehensive and effectiveness of activity implementation.

8- Capture the learning opportunities and reflect the findings from the ground to the management team.

9- Record the cases in the database on daily bases

10- Strive to improve confidence between formal judiciary system and informal traditional system.

11- Take part in meetings, workshops and other learning and experience sharing sessions held or advised by management.

12- Strive to improve legal knowledge of informal judiciary leaders/personnel.

13- Maintain good liaison with government judiciary departments and informal justice system.

14- Facilitate and actively take part in judicial seminars, annual summit, and biannual learning seminars to provide opportunity for actors of formal and informal justice systems around legal structures, human rights, dispute resolution, case resolve and referring mechanism in justice delivery system.

15- Update the status of CBHRCs under project coverage area and eliminate the challenges and obstacles raised from community.

16- Conduct capacity building trainings for local Shora members and human rights defenders.

17- Conduct public awareness raising legal campaign.

18- Participate to exposure meetings to the staff of formal and informal judiciary departments.

19- Assist the organization in carrying out project activities.

  • A bachelor’s degree in law/Sharia.
  • Minimum 3 years of working background in similar field with national and/or international NGOs.
  • Experience in formal/informal justice systems is strongly preferred.
