Social and Educational services Organization (SESO) is an independent, non-profit organization that aims to empower Afghan society by offering social and educational services, especially to marginalized and under-represented populations.

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Center Manager, the Librarian & Receptionist is responsible for providing library services and administrative support to the KEAC. The incumbent works as part of a team in providing library and educational services to a variety of client groups. The candidate should have a flexible approach to work and possess excellent telephone skills, excellent customer service, and organizational skills and have the ability to communicate effectively.

Duties & Responsibilities:

·      Catalog and classify library resources as required

·      Organize & Lead book reading/book clubs to promoting and marketing services;

·      Developing/maintain IT facilities and assisting with the use of computer equipment/internet;

·      Selecting, cataloging and classifying library resources;

·      Answering face-to-face/email/phone inquiries and providing relevant information,

·      Ensure that library services meet the needs of particular groups of users;

·      Assist patrons with use of online catalog and their internet search;

·      Make improvements to the accessibility of library resources by organizing resources;

·      Respond to telephone and in-person requests for information and research about EducationUSA, standardized tests and other KEAC services;

·      Assist patrons with registration for the TOEFL test, information related to the center, library, events, and other services;

·      Maintain, schedule of classes for TOEFL, GRE, GMAT preparation and other educational courses;

·      Assist in organizing classes, seminars, and meetings including room setup, sign-in sheets, printing agendas, handouts;

·      Respond to public inquiries about the classes, test dates, library and other educational services of the advising center;

·      Log all visitor information and inquiries & provide general administrative support for all departments;

·     Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor;

·      At least two years of college/university studies in Business Administration or Management is required;

·      Minimum of two years of experience in the field of library, customer service, and administration or related field is required;

·      A solid commitment to customer service;

·      Must be familiar with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook);

·      The candidates shall have worked in a similar capacity for Universities, governmental bodies, libraries, NGOs or international organizations;

·      Excellent communication, problem-solving and presentation skills;

·      Committed to hard work and continual learning;

·      Some ability to develop and present public information materials to promote center use;

·      A sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook);

·      The candidate must be fluent in both spoken and written English and Dari/Pashto;
