Local Accountant

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to Chief Technical Advisor and Deputy Technical Advisor necessary to achieve project goals in a timely and efficient manner;
• Responsible to record all the authorized financial transactions into the program accounting system;
• Manage project ledger and records, including monthly and annual financial reports for project managers and Clients;
• Prepare and monitor project budget
• Track project expenditures, manage petty cash records, and reconcile bank statements
• Manage payroll for project staff
• Check proper bills and supporting documents while recording in the cash book or bank book for receipt and making payments;
• Responsible to ensure compliance of local financial and tax laws and other applicable rules and regulations;
• Prepare bank reconciliation statement on monthly basis;
• Prepare the financial statements and other financial reporting;
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Job Requirements

• BA/BS in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field (MA/MS preferred or equivalent work experience);
• Three year(s) of relevant experience required;
• Knowledge of Financial management and reporting is a must;
• Familiarity with IFAD, World Bank and/or ADB policies and Afghanistan is a plus;
• Fluency in written and spoken English is required
