Job Summary:

Carry out Logistics tasks in support of Federation operations in the Humanitarian Crises Operations in Afghanistan.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To implement, maintain and follow International Federation standard practices and record-keeping in accordance with audit trail standards.
  • Logistics Support for Federation operations in Afghanistan, including customs clearance, warehouse management, requisitioning, receiving, storing, and dispatching of goods, and the processing of all relevant documentation.
  • Provide assistance in management and maintenance of logistics’ fixed assets, including the arrangement of insurance.
  • Provide assistance with the Warehouse Support software (LOGIC – logistics Inventory Control System), in mobilization.
  • To ensure the correct storage and rotation of stocks, as well as proper structural maintenance of warehouse(s) in view of maintaining all stocks in good condition.
  • To implement and maintain security and safety procedures and systems.
  • To organize local labour to effect the timely and efficient reception and dispatch of goods within the warehouse.
  • To liaise and maintain timely communications with relevant departments and services to ensure the timely and efficient receipt and dispatch of goods from the warehouse(s) in support of their activities.
  • To liaise with relevant international, government, and non-government organizations and collaborate with them where appropriate.
  • To produce regular, timely, and accurate narrative and financial reports for the International Federation and donors.
  • To ensure the correct storage and rotation of stocks, as well as proper structural maintenance of warehouse(s) in view of maintaining all stocks in good condition.
  • To implement and maintain security and safety procedures and systems.
  • To maintain accurate stock records and controls at all times; provide weekly and monthly stock reports to the Logistics Officer and advice on warehousing issues that affect the overall logistics operation.
  • To organize local labour to effect the timely and efficient reception and dispatch of goods within the warehouse.
  • To liaise and maintain timely communications with relevant departments and services to ensure the timely and efficient receipt and dispatch of goods from the warehouse(s) in support of their activities.
  • To produce regular, timely, and accurate narrative and financial reports for the International Federation and donors.


Duties applicable to all staff

  1. Actively work towards the achievement of the Federation Secretariat’s goals.
  2. Abide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross and Red Crescent principles.
  3. Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirement:

Education;

  • Relevant formal education least a bachelor’s degree

 

Experience;  

  • Assist and support national and international staff on logistics matters
  • Working for a humanitarian aid organization in a developing country
  • Logistics and Warehousing, Custom Clearance, at least 2 years of experience
  • Working in general logistics
  • Experience working within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (Preferred)
  • Working in management or administration (Preferred)

 

Knowledge, Skills and Language;

  • Proficient in computer literacy (use of Microsoft Office applications including MS Teams)
  • Proven good judgment, strong decision-making skills, and the ability to work with complete integrity and confidentiality
  • Strong analytical thinking skills and the ability to evaluate and assess options for the procurement planning
  • Knowledge of procedures and international standards for the purchase of goods and services
  • Ability to work within a multi-cultural, multilingual, and multidisciplinary environment (Preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in collaborative and cooperative approaches in teamwork
  • Fluently spoken and written English
  • Good command of Dari and/or Pashto
  • Knowledge of another IFRC official language (French, Spanish or Arabic) (Preferred)
