Job Summary:

The Logistics Assistant is responsible for ensuring the effective and timely completion of all logistics and procurement tasks and activities

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Logistics Assistant will perform the following functions but not limited to:

• Assist with vehicle registration and procurement of maintenance services
• Assist with shipment paperwork and maintain courier services and local and international shipments
• Provide logistical support for events
• Assist with booking and confirmation of airline tickets, US Embassy Air etc., when required, arrange accommodation for project staff, STTAs and visitors
• Assist with visa arrangements, work permits, customs exemptions and immigration related matters when required
• Assist with customs clearance procedures
• Liaise with security team, guards and project management for logistical issues
• Coordinate guest house and office procurement needs with procurement staff
• Conduct regular physical inventory check
• Assist with regular update of Inventory List in TAMIS
• Assist with monitoring, tracking and expediting all ASI procurement activities and delivery status of goods/services
• Assist tracking the status of payments to suppliers and vendors
• Conduct daily procurement activities in accordance with DAI policies and procedures
• Expedite local purchases
• Identify potential local vendors and suppliers
• Arrange transportation of goods
• Regularly maintained and update procurement and logistics files system
• Assist with vendor payment processing as needed
• Carry out other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Procurement Manager
• Other tasks and duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirement:

EDUCATION
• High School degree in relevant field required or equivalent experience.

WORK EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of 3 years experience in an equivalent position. Experience working in a similar position for an NGO or an international organization is preferred. USAID funded project experience is a plus. Must have willingness to travel to DAI Afghanistan field offices on DAI business. Must also have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment. In addition, must be flexible, willing to perform other duties and work irregular hours.
