UNOPS, Multi Location
As part of the Logistics/Procurement Unit and under the direct supervision of the Logistics Associate, the incumbent is responsible for assisting the coordination and implementation of Logistics activities to ensure timely, cost effective and safe delivery of goods and services to clients, in accordance with UNOPS Financial Rules and Regulations and Procurement Manual. His/her duties include:
• Function as daily translator between international personnel and local personnel/partners when required;
• Provide written translations from local languages to English;
• Ensure clearance and approval of all translated documentation by the management;
• Keep track of all documents and maintain copies of the translated materials;
• Assist in preparation of all necessary documentation for handling logistics of goods and services procured in accordance with UNOPS rules and regulations, and any other documents as needed;
• Maintain the records on logistics process and related documents and files to ensure transparency and accountability;
• Maintain a database of goods in movement and deliveries completed;
• Draft all correspondence related to logistics (in English and local languages) including letters to vendors, insurance claims, and replacement of damage goods as required;
• Raise purchase orders, seek approval and dispatch to freight forwarders as and when required in connection with logistics management;
• Monitor deliverables under contracts awarded and prepare documentation for authorization of payments to suppliers;
• Follow up with suppliers and freight forwarders to ensure timely and safe delivery of goods and services procured and take up logistics coordination responsibilities as and when required;
• Prepare reports and monitor project expenditure as appropriate;
• Undertake field missions when required;
• Keep abreast of relevant products/services market developments;
• Assist in building and maintaining customer relationships;
• Perform other duties as required.
a. Education
• Secondary Diploma required. Bachelor’s Degre in Business Administration or similar field considered an asset.
b. Work Experience
• Minimum of 3 years experience in Logistics and/or admin related fields
• Knowledge of UN rules and regulations in Logistics and Procurement will be considered an asset.
• Previous experience in verbal and written translations
c. Key Competencies
• Excellent command of English and Dari/Pashtu.

• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines;
