USAIDâ€™s Afghanistan Small and Medium Enterprise Development (ASMED) project is a five-year development assistance program that seeks to create economic growth through the improvement of private sector productivity. ASMED focuses on five main economic development activities in order to strengthen economic growth led by a thriving, licit Afghan private sector: 1) Gathering, analyzing and disseminating market information; 2) Developing dynamic Business Development Services (BDS) providers; 3) Strengthening and increasing the numbers of business associations; 4) Creating public-private sector alliances; and 5) Building the capacity of an Afghan private sector workforce.
USAIDâ€™s Afghanistan Small and Medium Enterprise Development (ASMED) project seeks a Monitoring and Evaluation (M and E) Coordinator for its Kandahar office. The primary goal of the ASMED program is to eliminate non-governmental barriers to running and establishing a business in Afghanistan. It will do this by helping to rebuild the production capacity that has suffered over the last three decades by restoring and creating linkages to markets and building institutions and services required for the private sector to grow. This is a five-year, on-going project, which began November 2006.
The ASMED project has a complex Performance Management Plan that requires collecting large amounts of data. The project needs a full-time staff member to help coordinate the collection and accurate entry of data from registration forms received from programs in the Kandahar office into TAMIS, to assist with conducting surveys and entering that data into Excel.
Duties & Responsibilities:
â€¢Work with project staff on completing registration forms for all activities and trainings
â€¢Assist with conducting surveys and overseeing the accurate and timely entry of that data into Excel
â€¢Enter all enterprise, association and BSP registration forms into TAMIS and all survey data in to survey spreadsheets
â€¢Participate in activity and grant evaluations when necessary
â€¢Assist with ad hoc requests for program information from donor
â€¢Verify collected data through phone calls
â€¢Keep all M and E files organized
â€¢Train staff, when necessary, on TAMIS and general M and E concepts
â€¢Provide regular updates for staff on the M and E process
â€¢Prepare reports of M and E activities
â€¢Perform other tasks as needed
â€¢University degree in relevant field preferred
â€¢M and E experience especially in survey, evaluations, focus group, key informant interviews and project evaluation required
â€¢Must be self-driven requiring minimal supervision.
â€¢Excellent English language skills (both written and spoken)
â€¢Preferably Dari and Pashto fluency
â€¢Computer literate with Microsoft Office
â€¢Experience collecting and analyzing data
â€¢Ability to work with others and share information
