Market risk in simply words is the risk of loss due to market fluctuations. The fluctuations can be in terms of interest rate, exchange rate, and commodity price. The market risk manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the interest rate risks, foreign exchange risks and liquidity risks of the bank. The goals of market risk management are to oversee the risks arising from market fluctuations and perform analytical work. The analytical mainly includes ratio analysis, gapanalysis, net interest income sensitivity analysis, stress testing, net open foreign exchange exposure and other spreadsheet analysis as required for the position. For this purpose strong analytical skill and good command over excel spreadsheets are required to effectively perform the tasks.
Duties & Responsibilities:
â€¢Report on interest rate risk of the bank
Market risk officer will be required to prepare report on interest rate risk of the bank including asset and liability mismatch risk, interest receivable and payable, gap analysis
â€¢Report on Foreign Exchange risk of the bank
Market risk officer is needed to regularly report on the FX position of the bank and measure the FX exposure of the bank at the same time report the fluctuations in the currencies and its impact on the banks business.
â€¢Prepare report on liquidity risk of the bank
Market risk officer is also responsible for calculating liquidity risk. And will constantly report on the liquidity ratios and prepare reports reflecting banks liquidity position.
â€¢Periodic assessment of the branches for market risks and educating branch staff about the risks
Market risk officer may also be required to travel to provincial and city branches of the bank and assess the branches at the same time educate the branch staff about the market risks.
â€¢Regularly reporting the Risk Manager about market risks
â€¢University degree in the areas of Banking, BBA, Economics, Commerce, Accounting and other related fields
â€¢At least 2-3 years experience. Experience in banking is highly preferred.
â€¢Ability to work in a team and creates good working relations with the bank staff.

â€¢Knowledge of Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) Regulations
â€¢Problem solving and analytical skills
â€¢Good knowledge of English
