University Research Co., LLC Parwan Program, is seeking an experienced Maternal and Newborn Health Advisor to provide technical support to this program. The incumbent must be able to work in the current conditions in Afghanistan/Parwan Province and possess training, monitoring, supervision skill sets.
The Maternal and Newborn Health advisor will report to the Provincial Improvement Coordinator in Parwan. This is a full-time position based in Parwan.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Conduct training sessions in the area of maternal and newborn care for clinical staff of the health facilities in Parwan.
Monitoring /Supervision and provide technical support to health facility staff related maternal and newborn care (MNC) activities
Closely Coordinate MNC activities with provincial improvement coordinator.
Assist improvement team in identifying quality gaps in MNC service provision at all levels in target provinces
Take active role in the design and implementation of training and quality improvement activities within the Parwan Provincial Program
Provide technical project support throughout the design and implementation, overseeing long- and short-term technical assistance and other organizations involved
Participate in the design and oversight of annual project planning cycle and development of comprehensive annual work plans and assure timely implementation
Extensive travels to the health facilities of Parwan Province and providing technical support related to the technical staff of HFs ,
Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
OB/GYN G specialist with 4-8 years experience of work in OB/GYN ward of the hospital, “experience providing technical support to international, regional or national health related projects is as assetâ€.
Have worked for at least 4 years in clinical setting providing maternal and newborn care services
Demonstrate contemporary knowledge on MNC high health impact issues which are in need of immediate medical attention and be able to provide clinical guidance to health workers
Strong technical expertise in areas such as Quality Improvement and Maternal and Newborn Health
Be fully acquainted with Health and Nutrition Sector Strategy, EPHS, BPHS, RH and Child health policy and strategy
Demonstrated excellent writing, communication, and oral presentation skills
Experience with USAID structure and regulations a plus
