The Media Manager: Under the direct supervision of the Counterpart STEP Director and Deputy Director, the Media Manager will be responsible for designing, managing and supervising Counterpart STEP media Program in compliance with the STEP objectives and goals. The program main objective is to educate and encourage the public engagement in the democratic and electoral process in Afghanistan.
The successful applicant will be responsible for developing, managing, coordinating multimedia activities and projects with; production company, media outlets, civil society organizations engaged in STEP and other team members and stakeholders as necessary. The successful application will have to supervise 2 staff members and liaise with other program departments and units to ensure synergy of program activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:
â€¢ Coordinate all media and public outreach activities for the Civic Education Program (CEP);
â€¢ Ensure quality of production, both in terms of technical quality and content, appropriate development of targeted media materials (specifically targeting women and youth), integrity of content, and participatory media production approaches that draw upon the community and that engage local government and citizens;
â€¢ Coordinate testing of targeted media materials;
â€¢ Supervise work of publication specialist;
â€¢ Ensure timely and accurate translation, as well as professional printing of STEP materials;
â€¢ Ensure that all materials are delivered to the target recipients in a timely manner;
â€¢ Work with local and national media outlets to promote STEP activities;
â€¢ Outreach to Afghan media and civil society to promote STEP activities;
â€¢ Other tasks as may be assigned by the National STEP Coordinator.
â€¢ Degree in Journalism or other related field preferred;
â€¢ 5 years experience in media and public outreach activities;
â€¢ 3 Experience in Program design and project management experience
â€¢ Experience in Social Marketing media campaigns
â€¢ Proven experience and track record in media campaign management;
â€¢ Good knowledge of the Afghan media landscape (working experience with Afghan media will be valued);
â€¢ Proficient with Microsoft Office Software.
â€¢ Fluency in English.
