Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Doctors Without Borders) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural or man-made disasters to populations in danger in more than 70 countries.
Objectives of the Position
Ensure the enforcement of correct clinical management of paediatric cases in Paediatric and neonatal intensive care units, as well as for the treatment of malnutrition; to be the Technical support and reference for the staff according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards (Protocol development, Coaching & training).
Main responsible for the quality of care in the paediatric department
- Follow-up on the ABCD approach to patient assessment and management
- Ensure proper documentation of the clinical finding, vital signs monitoring and treatment
- Ensure implementation and strict adherence of the staff (including himself !) to the protocols once implemented
- Coaching and training of the junior national staff Paediatric MDs.
- Daily on job bed side training and follow up the national staff Paediatric MDs
- Together with the other Paediatric MDs and nurses participate and organise trainings sessions based on the protocols and evaluate the outcomes of the training for the staff
- Organise case and mortality reviews meetings in the department and stimulate at atmosphere of learning and increased responsibility
- Available for interdisciplinary consultations and support the other departments or colleagues in the hospital when needed
- Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity
- Attend medical meetings as well as other meetings of relevance for the department or project direction
- Give regular feedback to the line manager and report directly any issue or incident
- Perform hands on tasks as part of the team whenever required or needed in order to optimize the resources and to contribute with his/her knowledge and experience
- Participate in monthly reports according to guidelines
Requirements and Competencies
Education
- Medical Doctor Diplomas essential
- Specialised diploma in Paediatrics essential
Experience
- Other experience in similar position essential
- MSF experience essential
Languages
- Pashto: oral and written essential Dari: oral and written is desirable English: oral and written is an Asset
- The staff will be under MSF contract and work according to roster on day/night shift (40H per week)
- The gross salary for this position is 64,150AFN (non-negotiable)
