Job Summary

The Multimedia Officer will support the Director of Communications in managing all aspects of communications, public relations, and social media at the American University of Afghanistan. S/he will work with the Director of Communications to implement communication strategies to broaden the impact of the University’s programs and oversee organizational messaging and constituent services. The Multimedia Officer is responsible for collecting, produce and manage communication products and materials in support of AUAF communication strategy.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Multimedia Officer’s duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:


Maintains an up to date archive of AUAF communications material;

Supports the production of communications material for external and internal audiences consistent with the branding guidelines of AUAF;

Produces high-quality flyers, brochures for the website and other social media outlets as required;

Designs and layouts the AUAF newsletter and other communications materials as needed;

Regularly updates AUAF website and pages on social media;

Films and edits short videos for internal and external use; and

Develops and maintain relations with media, government, and public, in close coordination with the support of the Director of Communications.

The position requires the incumbent to reside in Afghanistan

Bachelor’s degree in journalism or other communications related field or relevant field experience

Minimum three years of experience in the field of communications and public relations with an international institution

Filming and video editing skills

Layout and design skills; knowledge of adobe InDesign

Excellent spoken and written English. Fluency in Dari. Must be able to communicate in Pashto

Proven organizational skills including ability to ability to juggle multiple demands, manage shifting priorities, and negotiate timeline

Good conceptual and analytical as well as creative thinking

Abilities and Skills Requirements:

Advanced computer skills

Ability to work under pressure and within limited timeframes

Excellent analytical, project management, and organizational skills
