Job Summary

This position will require competences in both translation and auditing. The selected person will be expected to participate in the various audits conducted by the SAO. He/she will also have the responsibility of translating various documents and audit reports to/from English, Dari/ Pashto.

He/she will be responsible for listening to, understanding, and translating spoken or written statements to/from English and Dari/ Pashto. He/ she will also be expected to reproduce statements/ documents and reports in English/Dari/ Pashto for the relevant SAO teams and stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities

The selected person will have the following duties and responsibilities;
Translation:

Facilitate effective communication between parties that do not speak English/ Dari/ Pashto by converting one spoken or written language to another.

Attend meetings and trainings and act as a translator to mediate discussion.

Relay concepts and ideas between languages.

Convert written materials (audit reports, documents e.t.c) from one language into another.

Edit and proofread audit reports and various document texts to ensure that they accurately reflect language.

Facilitate communication for people with limited English/ Dari/ Pashto proficiency.

Audit:

Conducting risk assessments and audit planning of selected entities being audited by the SAO.

Regularly reviewing and evaluating financial management and internal control system of public sector entities

Adhere to the designed audit programs prepared by SAO

Executing audit plans and programs;

Documenting audits and preparing draft audit report

Attending entry and exit meetings

Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor

Conduct internal control/system reviews as and when required

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounts, Audit, Economics, Business, English and/or a closely related field. A post-graduate qualification in above mentioned fields would be preferable;

Proven translation skills (knowledge of technical and organizational terminology essential);

Proven documentation skills;

Minimum of four years’ work experience;

Must have worked in the field of Audit/Accounts/finance/translation for a period of at least four year;

Must Have proven experience and knowledge in translating Audit/ Account documents to/ from English and Dari/ Pashto

A consultant will be selected in accordance with Section V Selection of Individual Consultants procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (May 2004 as revised in October 2006 and May 2014).
