Job Summary:

The National Policy Adviser will report to the ASI Team Leader in ‎fulfilling the role.‎

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Adviser will:‎
• Provide policy input to the ASI Team in drafting a Business Plan ‎for the Ministry of Mines ‎
• Work with the ASI team to respond to requests from the Minister ‎for technical assistance on operational and technical issues
• Coordinate with the ASI Institutional Reform advisers to develop ‎appropriate capacity building programs aimed at policy ‎development
• Work with the ASI Policy Adviser to provide ongoing policy ‎support for the Ministry of Mines
• Respond to any other requests from the ASI Team Leader from ‎time to time as appropriate to assist the ASI team in fulfilling its ‎Terms of Reference.‎

Job Requirement:

• Three years experience of undertaking hands-on capacity building ‎within an Afghan ministry or agency. Ability to work relatively ‎independently without the need for day-to-day supervision from ‎an international adviser. ‎
• Previous experience and/or educational background in Minerals ‎sector Preferable to have experience working with the ‎Government of Afghanistan.‎
• Above average written and spoken English
• IT skills, especially proficient in MS word, Excel and Power Point
