FIA provides entrepreneurs, businesses and community groups with business planning, financial instruction and career training opportunities in order to maximize their economic, social and entrepreneurial potential. FIA is also a facilitating partner under the National Solidarity Program, which provides capacity building, infrastructure improvements and technical expertise to communities throughout Afghanistan. In addition, FIA is engaged in agricultural extension training in conjunction with the Ministry of Agriculture, Information and Livestock, engaging with farming communities on new agricultural methods, tools and techniques.

Job Summary:

National Technical Specialist

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide assistance to Chief Technical Advisor and Deputy Technical Advisor necessary to achieve project goals in a timely and efficient manner;
• Provide the assistance with the development of the technical component of the cooperatives’ business plans (design of storage and sorting facilities and production plans);
• Directly supervise the set up of cooperative infrastructures;
• Provide assistance with the drafting specifications for the technical component;
• Support senior program management in the information dissemination programme;
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Job Requirement:

• Degree in Horticulture Engineering, Agronomy or other related areas;
• 5-10 years of experience in cooperative development, in the implementation of business plans for horticulture cooperatives and the implementation of investment programs;
• In-depth technical knowledge of Afghanistan horticulture;
• Experience in working with a range of stakeholders that include the private sector, government, agribusiness cooperatives, and farmers’ associations.
• Proficiency and English and / or French is essential;
