About Mine Action Coordination Center of Afghanistan:
The Mine Action Coordination Centre of Afghanistan (MACCA) supported by the United Nations in partnership with the Department of Mine Clearance coordinates the activities of the Mine Action Programme for Afghanistan (MAPA) including survey, mine clearance, battlefield clearance, mine risk education, and victim assistance activities throughout the country since 1989 and the mine action services reach almost every corner of the country.
The Network Administrator will be based in Kabul. She/he will work under the direct supervision of the ICT Officer and over all supervision of MACCA Chief Information Officer/Deputy Chief Information Officer. The Network Administrator will be looking after administrating and managing MACCA and AMACs Networks. Other duties and responsibilities are listed as follows;
Duties & Responsibilities:
â€¢Establish, manage and maintain the multi-protocol Local Area Network (LAN) with Wide-Area Network (WAN) (through Virtual Private Network) connectivity from AMAC remote locations to the MACCA Office in Kabul.
â€¢Routine upgrades and maintenance on servers and clients. This includes the following servers: the primary domain controller, backup domain controller, main file and print servers, antivirus server, e-mail Exchange server and FASS server. In addition, maintain back-up servers for PDC, e-mail and file servers for emergency stand-by as per disaster recovery plan.
â€¢Remotely manage and administer AMAC client computers, and IMSMA servers as required
â€¢Assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of IMSMA and GIS servers when requested by MIS and as directed by ICT Officer.
â€¢Ensure the standard server checklists are completed on a daily basis and findings briefed to the ICT Officers.
â€¢Configure network devices and monitor network and server performance;
â€¢Configure servers and workstations on the network for print and file services;
â€¢Establish host connectivity for workstations and support server-based productivity applications such as FASS and ATLAS;
â€¢Participate in the formulation of guidelines and overall security frameworks including, antivirus, content filtering, backup and recovery procedures for the network.
â€¢Create user profiles and define access rights for users; define and apply network group policies.
â€¢Install TCP/IP networking using protocols such as FTP and SMTP across MACCA network.
â€¢Configure Exchange, DHCP, DNS servers with an appropriate firewall to enable Internet and Intranet connectivity; install various middleware tools to enhance integration.
â€¢Write scripts to customise application level functions; identify system and network possible enhancements.
â€¢Prepare all weekly and monthly reports on all the system administration activities on MACCA network for the ICT Officerâ€™s review.
â€¢Maintain the SWP for the network administration of MACCA network.
Travel as necessary to AMAC offices to assist staff of above mention functions. Completing additional tasks assigned by the Chief Information Officer and/or ICT Officers.
â€¢Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, or secondary education with 2 years of additional relevant experience (Masters Degree is an asset).
â€¢At least 5 years of experience in medium sized network/systems administration and/or related experience in the field of Information Technology.
â€¢Microsoft Certified IT Professional.
â€¢Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist+ Exchange Server 2007 Administrator (MCTS).
â€¢Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
â€¢Excellent computer skills in the Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 (POP3 and SMTP protocols), Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista, ISA/Proxy Server, and Microsoft Office 2007 software.
â€¢Strong knowledge of Cisco firewall configuration is essential.
â€¢Posses advanced technical skills related to EDP hardware and software.
â€¢ICDL certificate and A+ certification will be considered as an advantage.
â€¢Good administrative and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple and concurrent activities.
â€¢Flexible and adaptable to any situation.
â€¢Excellent working knowledge of both written and spoken English.
â€¢Ability to work independently while under pressure and during long hours â€“ must be flexible and adaptable to diverse situations.
