Job Summary

 Regular follow up , monitoring and supervision of social animation staff activities:
- Motivation of children to participate in the project activities
- Follow-up of children absent from animation/educational activities (at children, family and/or shop owners or workshop owners level)
- Maintain individual record of children
- Supervise non formal educational activities through games.
- Motivation of animation staff to categorize activities for the wellbeing of the beneficiaries.
- Linkage between the project and children.
 Monitor and supervise 1st physical activities: including free games and sports. Through direct action, animator/Educator pay attention to the children, providing them on concerned of pleasure and safety
 Pay attention to 2nd Creative arts activities: including music, drama and handicrafts. Protection Massages, speeches and poems, through play-acting different scenarios and making designing things, animators provide a friendly environment for learning.
 Maintain 3rd Non Formal Educational Activities: Including games with rules, reading, and lesson on hygiene and basic life skill. Through structure and guidance, animators can create /or reinforce social skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

Child Protection Policy
• Commit to respect the Tdh Child Protection Policy and principles of child protection.
• Commit to ensure the best implementation possible of the Child Protection Policy in Torkham area.
• Commit to inform supervisors and to deal with any cases, allegations, or possibility of transgression, even potential, of the Child Protection Policy.

Main duties and responsibilities:
• Represent Tdh on the field, with professionalism, honesty and commitment
• Identify and act upon risks and protection issues associated with local communities, particularly those identified as the most vulnerable.
• Supervise the Educator/Animator and Center Social workers in their daily activities
• Meets with Educator/Animators and social workers on a regular basis to provide support and direction in their daily work. Organise a planning with each staff member of their daily tasks.
• Develops and implements team building activities on a regular basis.
• Identifies staff training needs and works in collaboration with other staff members to implement continuing education opportunities.
• Contributes topics for group discussions with community members in the Torkham area.
• Encourage the community’s involvement in the project, ensuring that priority is given to self-help responses and community self-developed support mechanisms.

• Take part in weekly staff meetings to discuss action plan for identified vulnerable child cases that will take part in child center activities. Propose care interventions at the level of suitable child activities that can be easily implemented at the center.
• Follow-up on the identified vulnerable children in the course of activities implemented at the Tdh child center, in close collaboration with Tdh Social Workers and community mobilizers and Child protection officers assigned to these cases who will visit the center on a regular basis for follow up purposes.


Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator:

• Motivate and guide the Educator/Animator to organize daily fun, creative, non formal education and expressive activities for children in Tdh child centers according to their specific needs and age groups.
• Take part in weekly staff meetings to discuss action plan for identified vulnerable child cases that will take part in child center activities. Propose care interventions at the level of suitable child activities that can be easily implemented at the center.
• Follow-up on the identified vulnerable children in the course of activities implemented at the Tdh child center, in close collaboration with Tdh Social Workers and community mobilizers and Child protection officers assigned to these cases who will visit the center on a regular basis for follow up purposes.
• Assist in the maintenance of records on the children population and settlement in the area.
• Supervise surveys and data collection.
• Identify, coordinate and/or collaborate with other service providers in order to reinforce information sharing and provision in the area (Drug Awareness, Health, Hygiene promotion, etc.) through the ad hoc Committees and built knowledge.
• Collaborate and share information with all partners at field level
• Monitor and report on all issues related to protection
• Monitor and report on all issues related to targeted vulnerable groups
• Supervise the identification process and assistance to EVI by the Educator /Animator and social workers following Tdh criteria.
• Community base schools supervision in its up date record
• Define the strategy in consultation to encourage participation and for all community members’ voices to be heard in decisions relating to their personal circumstances and community.

Reporting
• Collect and correct the daily reports given by the Community Mobilisers
• Report vulnerable or children ‘at risk’ and/or in need of child protection to the Social Work team

Job Requirements

Education
 High School or Diploma degree with at least two years experience in the field of educator/ Social Animator.

Experience
 At least two years experience or worked in relevant organization as animator/educator in non formal education.
 To have enough experience in education through games and indoor and outdoor games
 It is important for an animator to have certain qualities and skills when working with children.

Knowledge, Skills and abilities
 Fluency in English, Pashto and Dari in writing, reading and speaking.
 Good reporting skill.
 Fluency in local languages and should be able to communicate in simple English. Excellent oral communication and presentation skills in local languages are required.
 Good understanding of Afghan society, their tradition, culture and values.
 Appropriate level of Computer knowledge is desirable.
