The Operations Coordinator is responsible for all necessary elements associated with the day-to-day operations at the school. The Operations Coordinator focuses on the areas most related to actual operations of the Kabul school, such as utilities, procurement, transportation, maintenance, and security – and acts as a the point of contact for the General Manager to each of these areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement for all areas of operations including, but not limited to: utilities, transportation, maintenance, food, programs, and security
Maintain spending within budget constraints in each of these respective areas
Responsible for transportation costs (fuel, repairs, etc.) – knowledge of driver routes, vehicle maintenance schedules, and collection of fuel logs from drivers
Oversight of maintenance of facility – including electricity, plumbing, heat and other basic utilities
Daily inspections of entire facility
Overseeing daily cleaning of facility
Delegation of daily tasks to cleaners and maintenance crew
Procurement of skilled labor for tasks that cannot be completed by local staff
Coordinating daily transport schedule and tasks, with input from Programs Officer
Doing monthly inventory of first-aid supplies and procuring items that are out of stock
Overseeing security of facility
Delegating daily tasks to Security Guards
Ensuring Security Guards are performing duties to utmost abilities (day and night)
Performing government-related tasks for local operations including international visas, delivering reports and documents to ministries, vehicle registration, driving licenses, etc
*The Operations Coordinator will also be responsible to perform any reasonable task asked by Skateistan management
Minimum professional and academic qualifications
2-year degree or certificate in related field OR equivalent experience in logistics, procurement, and/or facility management
2 years experience in similar position
Experience in managing of others in previous positions
Experience in NGO/Non-Profit, Public Administration, or Social Work sectors is helpful
Driver’s license

Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, tasks efficiently
Excellent time management skills and resourcefulness with strong attention to detail
Strong knowledge of local markets – such as locations and prices
Knowledge of local ministries and government compliance procedures
Fluency, both written and spoken, in local language
Written and spoken English is preferred
Knowledge of additional local languages is applicable
Computer skills using MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Trade skills – carpentry, plumbing, electric, metal work, automotive, etc.
Additional computer skills are desirable – e-mail, internet browsers, Skype, etc.
Ability to work both independently and closely with others as part of a team
