This position is responsible for the daily function of operations, logistics, and works closely with all Internews departments. The position is required to work closely with the other line departments and to support the Country Director, Program Manager and Resident Technical Advisor with all information in carrying out the activities in the field. This position liaises with counterparts including funders, and senior Internews administration staff at regional, or head offices, on direction from the Country Director.
Admin and Logistics
• Maintaining and developing comprehensive records managements systems to ensure ease of access to information.
• Provide administrative support to the unit including preparing relevant meetings, minute taking, providing logistics support when necessary and covering staff if they are abroad
• Manages building maintenance and contractors to meet requirements.
• Maintains current knowledge of local government requirements related to Internews operations in Afghanistan and ensures compliance with these regulations and other legal requirements
• Manages performance of cleaning, kitchen, guard and transport units to meet requirements
• Manage all station construction and procurement processes to meet project requirements and deadlines
• Participate in routine performance assessments.
• Attend and participate in other team management meetings to facilitate coordination, understanding, and cooperation between different departments.
• The role will include oversight of procedures on stock management and warehousing.
• Ensuring proper assets management and internal controls, providing monthly updates to Technical and Finance and Administration Managers.
Program Operations Management:
• Liaise with other Internews stakeholders such as Finance, Business development, RNC and Technical to share grants management information and assist with their needs.
• Oversights travel and visa arrangements for field missions.
• Assist in sub-grantees program implementation
• Work closely with Technical Unit in establishing and upgrading radio and TV stations across Afghanistan, providing administrative backup for these activities
• Contact with Regional and Head Office to facilitate in reporting and general operational activities as needed.
• Supports and implementation of security policy and implement Internews office policy and procedures.
• Attend management team meetings and assist with overall management decisions.
• Provide reports to line managers reporting on progress, activities and recommendations.
• Travel to field if required
• 3+ years programmatic experience in development environment/or relevant advanced degree.
• Radio experience preferred
• Research and report writing skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Proficient in MS Office and Excel
• Experience managing databases
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple on-going assignments
• Relevant university degree required
• Logistics and procurement experience an advantage
• English, Pashton and Dari skills preferred
• Understanding USAID rules and regulations an advantage
