Duties & Responsibilities

The Operations Projects Manager under direct supervision of the Chief of Operations is responsible for managing the specific project(s) that he/she is allocated for and assist the Sr. OPS Manager on day to day operations related activities. The duties and responsibilities of the OPS Project Manager is included but not limited to the following:

• Check the allocated projects planning and make sure it is according to the national work plan
• Check the allocated projects proposals and ensure their accuracy and cost effectiveness
• Ensures the work progresses according to the project plan
• Manages the allocated projects and update the Chief of Operations timely
• Writes reports for the allocated projects concerning planning, implementation method and quality monitoring for the specific project(s) that he/she is allocated
• Continually reviews the working procedures and outputs of the allocated projects and provide technical advices to the implementers
• Conduct project progress analysis and communicate his/her findings from effectiveness point of view with the implementing organization and MACCA Chief of OPS and based on the analysis result advise for the appropriate improvement
• Establish a strong liaison with the organizations implementing the projects and provide necessary coordination related assistances to them
• Arrange periodical briefing on the progress of the allocated projects to MACCA Chief of OPS and if required to the MACCA Front Office
• Conducts regular field visits to the allocated projects for the purpose to ensure the quality of work and advise for improvement
• Evaluates and tracks the allocated projects’ weekly, monthly progressive, quarterly, annual reports and ensure their accuracy before it is entered into IMSMA
• Co-ordinates De-mining resources including assessment of priorities for the allocated project(s)
• Continually checks the workability of equipment used by the implementing organizations for mine clearance in the allocated projects
• Ensures the mine clearance operations for the allocated projects are carried out in accordance with the national standards
• Ensures the completed tasks belonging to the allocated projects are properly handed over to the end users and the required procedures are met
• Undertake any other task given by the Chief of OPS
• And assist the Sr. OPS Manager on day to day operational works

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Resource Management, Engineering, Project Management or other related fields; or Secondary Diploma with 2 years of additional relevant work experience maybe considered.
• At least have 5 years of experience in mine action operations management specifically in project managing and development of mine action projects in Afghanistan
• Having adequate knowledge on the AMAS
• Having knowledge in project management preferably completing at least a project management course.
• Experience with De-mining NGOs is an asset.
• Good understanding of Quality Management procedures.
• Proven leadership skills
• Computer literate
• Fluent in English Pashto and Dari
• Have good communication skill
• Able to establish good and quick relationship with the stakeholders
