Responsibilities
The Outreach and Communication specialist is responsible to ensure broad dissemination of information about the project’s objectives, approach and resources, as well as about its activities and accomplishments.
Principle Duties and Tasks
Assist with preparation of draft KCI work plan to ensure internal consistency
Coordinate closely with the M and E Specialist and the Information Technology Specialist on the approach and formats required for communication of information on performance and results;
Establish criteria for collecting and archiving useful documentary photographic and video footage, and ensure dissemination to KCI staff and subcontractors; monitor cataloging and archiving;
Produce success stories on KCI activities and include with each KCI Report.
Support the KCI technical components in their respective outreach efforts, and in particular, develop and conduct specific public awareness and advocacy campaigns delivered via a variety of media available to communities;
Plan and implement (or supervise and monitor implementation of) all communication relations activities, including VIP visits, inaugurations of infrastructure, press releases, newsletters, etc);
Coordinate and direct the production and recording of all necessary communication materials;
Prepare fact sheets, brochures, and other information that presents KCI activities, and describes its objectives, activities, and results obtained;
Prepare weekly activity reports;
Participate in the preparation of annual work plans;
Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications
Education: University degree preferred, but sufficient relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
Experience: 3-4 years experience in an equivalent position for an NGO or an international organization is preferred. USAID funded project experience is a clear plus. Must also have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment. In addition, must be flexible, willing to perform other duties and work irregular hours.
Language Excellent Language proficiency in spoken and written Dari, Pashto and English is a requirement
Communication Listen to others, interpreting correctly messages and responding appropriately; pose questions for clarification, and exhibit interest in having two-way communication.
Other Skills Identification, organization, and execution of priority activities and assignments with minimal direct supervision, adjusting priorities as required
Allocation of appropriate amount of time and resources for the completion of assigned tasks
Ability to work collaborative with colleagues at all levels to achieve project goals
Tactfulness, Enthusiasm to the job. Good Human Relation skills, integrity and ability to work under pressure.
