Salam Afghanistan Media Organization (SAMO) is a national radio service providing news, information and entertainment to a network of 100 locally owned and operated radio stations in 34 provinces with the capacity to reach over 22 million listeners across Afghanistan. Established in 2003, Salam Afghanistan Media Organization (SAMO) is an independent, non-governmental organization, registered in Afghanistan. Throughout its history the station has vocalized and connected the voices and aspirations of its listeners from urban centers to rural areas across Afghanistan.
The Pashto Editor plays fundamental role in a
media organization. The Pashto Editor is responsible for gathering news feeds
and in consultation with the radio team, prepares edited material after carefully
evaluation for the radio/website in line with the organization policy. The
editor is tasked to evaluate content based on the journalistic values and
present fine material to listeners/readers for their information and education.
1. Editing radio programs/news
2. Translating news, articles from Farsi to Pashto
3. Editing and proofreading text produced by SW reporters
for online
4. Editing all text and writing it in an interesting and
appealing manner
5. Coordination and consultation with the reporters for
the preparation of radio/ online content
6. Ensure compliance with the organization policy
7. Helping prepare work plan for reporters, and
collaborating with them in implementation
8. Ensuring quality evaluation of the news and reports,
and providing complete reports on them
9. Collaborating with the reporters in preparing news,
reports and research projects
10. Listening back to reports and news to report to
higher management
11. Close collaboration with the reporters in preparing
news, reports and helping resolve issues they might face
12. Keeping the reporters up to date on current affairs
and latest news
13. Close cooperation with the department of monitoring
and evaluation
14. Executing additional tasks given by the chief editor
Graduated from Journalism faculty, Pashto Literature or a relevant field.
The candidate must have at least five years of experience of working as an Editor
Must have excellent Pashto language knowledge and
written skills
Must be able to translate text from Farsi to Pashto
Be able to undertake research using a variety of sources
Be able to alter their style of writing to reflect their
audience
Be able to multitask and priorities work schedules
Be computer literate and possess good typing skills
Be able to simplify and explain complex issues and
procedures
Be able to work on their own or in a team
Be able to work to tight deadlines
