About Nove Onlus:

Founded: 2016  www.noveonlus.org

NOVE Onlus http://www.noveonlus.org/ works in Afghanistan since the year 2013 in support of the most vulnerable people, in particular women and physically disabled people, counting on the organizational efforts of its HQ in Rome and its office in Kabul. In October 2014, NOVE Onlus started the project “I am a woman and I want to work” in Kabul establishing a Women Professional Training Centre that in 4 years offered free tuition to approximately 1.900 women, aged 18 to 35. Building upon this successful experience, NOVE Onlus has designed a new project called ‘Pink Shuttle”. In Afghanistan, public transportation is almost non-existent and walking along the streets exposes women to several risks, including harassment. Most women are forbidden to cycle and to take motorcycles, taxis or buses driven by men and are also prevented from getting a driving license, due to the high fees of the courses and to the restriction to attend a gender-mixed class. Free mobility is still a dream for Afghan women. The aim of this project is to contribute to the realization of their dream and support their empowerment by delivering the ‘Pink Shuttle’ service, the first and only means of transport in Afghanistan driven uniquely by female drivers for female passengers. A tool for independence, which allows to safely reach the places where women can study and work. The project is foreseen to begin in May 2019 and end in January 2020.
