Job Summary


The Plans Assistant is responsible for assisting the production of National level de-mining plans. The Plans Assistant will report to the Plans Officer and will be responsible for the following functions:

Duties & Responsibilities

• Entry of IPs quarter and annual task list in to the Planning Database and keeping it update.
• Review of Project Monitoring Tool and provide feedback to the field focal point.
• Data analysis based on the Plans database queries on monthly bases.
• Monitoring of project and act as a HQ focal point for several projects
• Review of IPs Quarterly and annual Reports against IMSMA (the National Database).
• Processing the Amendment letters for the IPs work plans.
• Assist in preparation of annual achievement report for internal use and records
• Keeping update the Plans related matrixes i.e. Operation Matrix, Teams Matrix, Project Matrix, and, MAPA Workforce Matrix.
• Preparation of MAPA annual planner.
• Providing trainings on the prioritization and planning processes for the operations staff of AMACs and IPs.
• Conducting field visit of specific demining projects
• Monthly analysis of demining projects and follow up on projects behind schedule.
• Quarterly/midterm review of the National Operational Work Plan.
• Assist in co-ordination of demining resources including assessment of priorities and resources implications;
• Assist contractors in planning of demining projects
• Assist in accident investigation/BOI.
• Attending Planning Review TWG
• Assisting in facilitation of presenting briefing and presentation to the visitors and IPs.
• Any other tasks assigned.

Job Requirements

• Secondary Diploma or equivalent certificate.
• 2-3 years of relevant experience in the field, preferably in humanitarian mine action programmes
• Proven Mine Action Specialist with the associated expert qualifications or equivalent experience
• Thorough knowledge of all de-mining assets – manual, mine detection dogs and mechanical systems
• Qualified in accident investigation
• Thorough knowledge of the International Mine Action Standards, de-mining SOPs, technical and safety procedures
• Proven leadership qualities
• Good negotiation and interpersonal skills
• Professional knowledge of de-mining and explosives ordnance equipment
• Fluent in English, Pashto/Dari (written and oral).
• Ability to work in a multi national environment
• Thorough knowledge of computers (Ms. Office packages)
