The Mine Action Coordination Centre of Afghanistan (MACCA) supported by the United Nations in partnership with the Department of Mine Clearance coordinates the activities of the Mine Action Programme for Afghanistan (MAPA) including survey, mine clearance, battlefield clearance, mine risk education, and victim assistance activities throughout the country since 1989 and the mine action services reach almost every corner of the country.

Job Summary:

The Plans Associate is responsible for assisting the production of National level de-mining plans. The Plans Associate will report to the Plans Officer and will be responsible for the following functions:

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist in production of the Annual National Operational Work Plan.
• Conducting and chairing the Planning Working Group in absence of PO.
• Quarterly/mid term review of the National Operational Work Plan.
• Assist in evaluating and tracking the AMAC Work Plans.
• Assist in evaluating and tracking the Annual National Operational Work Plan.
• Assist with compiling and cirtifing of monthly reports or technical reports for signature of the Chief of Operations MACCA concerning mine action support.
• Assist in preparation and update MACCA monthly demining reports and returns.
• Assist in the planning of demining requirements for International, Governmental, and Non-Governmental, Humanitarian and Reconstruction Agencies;
• Assist in co-ordination of demining resources including assessment of priorities and resources implications;
• Assist in the production of demining technical and safety standards;
• Assist contractors in planning of demining projects, and;
• Assist in accident investigation/BOI.
• Assist in training of national staff.
• Attending Planning Review TWG,
• Understudy Plans Officer
• Any other tasks designated by the supervisor.

Job Requirement:

Qualifications and Experience:

• Secondary Diploma required; Bachelors degree is an asset
• 3-5 years relevant work experience.
• Thorough knowledge of all de-mining assets – manual, mine detection dogs and mechanical systems
• Qualified in accident investigation
• Thorough knowledge of the International Mine Action Standards, de-mining SOPs, technical and safety procedures
• Proven leadership qualities
• Good negotiation and interpersonal skills
• Professional knowledge of de-mining and explosives ordnance equipment
• Fluent in English
• Ability to work in a multi national environment
• Computer literate.
