Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide training and mentoring to CHW trainers and community health supervisors as well as orientation to health facility staff to implement prevention of postpartum hemorrhage program
• Supervise CHW training courses on prevention of PPH program
• Conduct advocacy meeting with provincial, district and community authorities on prevention of postpartum hemorrhage program
• Conduct post training follow up visits in the field, identity gaps, give feedback or provide on the job training if necessary
• Visit and hold planning/implementation meetings with HSSP and partners to address specific issues such as:
oReview of training and IEC materials
oMonitoring and evaluation of PPH activities
oReview efforts to date and develop a plan for scaling up the intervention
• In collaboration with field staff, ensure necessary program planning, development and management activities function smoothly and efficiently
• Work collaboratively to ensure that resources for program implementation are available to the field
• Conduct monitoring and supervision of program implementation in the field
• Take part in project planning including development of workplans
• Ensure progress reports are written in a timely fashion.
• Take part in project team meetings and ensure all activities are coordinated with other technical team members.
• Provide translation for international staff and visiting consultants.
• Comply with HSSP operational and security guidelines and policies.

Job Requirement:

• Generalist doctor with training skills; obstetrician/gynecologist; or midwife; or nurse. Due the nature of this post preference will be given to qualified female candidates.
• Recent experience working on community-based project and the BPHS
• Demonstrated proficiency in training of CHW trainers and CHS
• Extensive experience working with national/international NGOs and public sector institutions in Afghanistan’s health sector, including the MOPH.
• Programming, management and decision making skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with expatriate clinical and technical counterparts.
• Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with colleagues in a complex and rapidly changing environment; excellent interpersonal skills.
• Spoken and written competence in Dari and Pashto.
• Experience in data collection and HMIS
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
• Ability to speak and write coherently and effectively in English.
• Good computer ability, including competence in word processing, internet/e-mail.
• Ability and willingness to travel to Afghanistan provincial capitals and rural areas for significant amounts of time (estimated 40% travel) without Mahram or overseas as requested.
