BACKGROUND:

DAI is implementing the USAID funded Afghanistan Competitiveness of Export-Oriented Businesses Activity (ACEBA) Program. The objective of this program is to enhance capacities of Afghan exporters and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) associated with export-oriented value chains, such as carpets, marble and granite, precious stones and jewelry, textiles, and cashmere as a means of promoting sustainable economic growth and increasing employment. 


Job Summary:

PURPOSE

The Procurement Assistant is responsible for ensuring project procurement of goods and operations services are achieved according to DAI/ACEBA policies and procedures. The Procurement Assistant supports the operations in the following functions, but not limited to.


Duties & Responsibilities:

OBJECTIVE AND DUTIES: 

• Manage project operations procurement and ensure compliance with DAI/ACEBA policies, procedures and guidance;

• Purchase a wide-range of goods, commodities, and services;

• Manage vendor relationships, contacts, and pre-qualifications lists;

• Facilitate efficient and timely procurement of goods and services;

• Delivers work product in a schedule-driven environment;

• Obtains product/pricing information from vendors which is used in sourcing and contracting decisions;

• Facilitates the timely receipt of requested goods/services;

• Monitor/audit the receipt of goods and services;

• Carry out other procurement functions as required.


Job Requirement:

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree with 3 years’ experience or 5 years overall experience


Work Experience: 

• Experience working with international organizations in Afghanistan is preferred.

• Experience working on USAID-funded programs in DAI is an advantage

 

Other Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Highly computer literate with preferably advanced e-mail, word processing and spreadsheet management skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Excellent organizational skills

• Ability to work under pressure


Languages:

• Fluency in English and/or Dari Pashto preferred

• The position reports to the Operations Manager.
