The Afghanistan Economic and Legal Studies Organization (AELSO) is an independent think-tank based in Afghanistan and registered as a non-profit and non-political non-governmental organization with the Ministry of Economy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on December 10, 2009 (Registration Number 1532). The mission of AELSO is to promote the values of individual freedom and of the responsibility of civil society for the creation and sustenance of the institutions of limited government, the rule of law, and the other institutional foundations of the free society. That includes strengthening the institutions of the free-market economy, such as clear definition of, and respect, for property, and promotion of freedom of expression, toleration, human rights, and civil peace.
We are looking for a competent Program Manager to undertake a variety of administrative and programs management tasks. The Program Manager will help in planning, writing reports/proposals and organizing programs and activities as well as carry out important operational duties.

• Support planning and coordination of a program and its activities
• Ensure implementation of policies and practices
• Manage communications through media relations, social media etc.
• Help build positive relations within the team and external parties
• Schedule and organize meetings/events and maintain agenda
• Ensure technology is used correctly for all operations (video conferencing, presentations etc.)
• Maintain budget and track expenditures/transactions
• Prepare paperwork and order material
• Keep updated records and create reports or proposals
• Support growth and program development
• Coordination of projects with all involved stakeholders
• Liaise the issues between district/communities, national and international level partners
• Review, prepare and finalize all the projects progress reports
• Design and contextualize the action plans
• Tackle the problems arise during project implementation
• Participation in national and international meetings and conferences of the organization
• Coordinates activities of supervisors, facilitators, and other project team engaged in the project
• Monitor and document (reports, pictures) all completed activities and initiate internal evaluation together with project directors
• Report on strengths and weaknesses of implementation methodologies and general lessons learnt and life stories
• Show initiative in developing new project ideas and proposals
• Cooperate and coordinate with other project stakeholders (NGOs, Universities & Donors) in consultation with Program.
• Manage of the project at provincial/district levels and coordination of the project with provincial/district stakeholders
• Preparing monthly, quarterly, and end of training report
• Assisting in the preparation of programs budgets
• planning and monitoring the project
• managing project risks, including the development of contingency plans
• monitoring overall progress and use of resources, initiating corrective action where necessary
• liaison with appointed project assurance representatives to assure the overall direction and integrity of the project
• adopting and applying appropriate technical and quality strategies and standards
• conducting a project evaluation review to assess how well the project was managed
• Responsible for the planning, implementing, and supervision of all project activities
• Document lessons learnt and best practices, prepare case studies and stories of change, including developing a portfolio of visual documentaries (photo and video).
• Develop work plans, monitor progress of the project and prepare all types of required reports.
• Facilitating/ supporting the national staff and donor staff in monitoring and evaluating the project.
• Develop training plans
• Promote and share experience and build strong team members
• Any other official tasks as assigned by the CEO or board members
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Law & Political Science or BBA/DBA (Master’s degree is not required but it will be an added advantage)
• Excellent English and Dari/Pashto written and spoken skills
• Must have computer skills.
• Experience in working with NGOs at least for more than one year
• Good Monitoring skill
• Good organizational, diplomatic and reporting skills
• Ability to work under pressure
• Excellent cross-cultural skills; prior experience working in a multi-cultural environment is an added advantage.
• Good capacity building and management skills, including human resource and financial management, communications and intercultural cooperation skills
• A networker, diplomatic and results oriented, with the ability to work under stressful and time bound project conditions.
• Flexible and capable of working in a stressful context.
• Ability to work independently in the field.
• A good team player & problem solver.
• Excellent in report and articles writing for our website.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication, supervisory and coaching skill.
• Ability to travel and participate in our national and international conferences
• Familiar or learn the concepts of facilitation, training and coaching roles
