Duties & Responsibilities:
The Programme Assistant provides support in a range of specialized administrative process and
specialized support services. The work context calls for a good knowledge of administrative rules.
The incumbent has contact with staff at various levels within the Culture and Administration Units.
The recruited candidate shall:
Support the Culture Unit by providing administrative assistance of regular and extrabudgetary
projects;
Compile data on programme activities to support reporting on project delivery;
Assist the Culture Unit in producing interim/final reports, documents, publications and
correspondence related to work of the Unit;
Assist in procurement of equipment and other supplies for field projects and office
activities:
Initiate procedures for recruiting consultants, local staff, partner firms/NGOs;
Initiate travel authorizations in conjunction with missions and visiting officials;
Organize HQ/field meetings and workshop by booking venues, informing participants,
distributing documentation and initiating travel authorizations;
UNESCO DOES NOT CHARGE A FEE AT ANY STAGE OF THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS.
Inform team members of specific administrative processes and related procedures, to
support work planning in timely and coordinated execution of work;
Route information and queries for response as appropriate;
Maintain Unit programme content on inter/intranet sites and monitor traffic;
Maintain information systems and databases on both physical and electronic media;
Assist the Culture Unit in organizing the publication and dissemination of official
documents, reports and publications through both internet and physical distribution.
Job Requirement:
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
University Degree in Business Administration or related field and five years of experience in the
provision of office support and administrative services would be an asset;

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Fluency in English.
COMPUTER SKILLS

Knowledge of the Organization’s computerized financial/personnel systems.
ASSIGNMENT DURATION:
1 year, with a three-month probationary period
