Job Summary

Support the Project Manager-U.S. Government (PM-USG) in handling business matchmaking and local procurement advocacy activities of the Business Development Services section in support of Peace Dividend Marketplace – Afghanistan (PDM-A)

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 Support PM-USG in liaising with Afghan companies for business development;
 Market PDM-A’s services to both international buyers and local suppliers;
 Identify procurement needs in priority sectors for U.S. Government entities (USAID, U.S. Embassy, U.S. Military, etc.);
 Identify Afghan businesses that can respond to the identified procurement needs;
 Support roll-out of business development activities to regional centres;
 Assist in the development of and support of local procurement solutions, including organizing site visits, vendor days, outreach events, feasibility assessments, and identifying emerging needs;
 Represent PDM-A at events, including trade fairs, meetings, etc.;
 Contribute to market research in coordination with PM-USG;
 Assist in conducting briefings to U.S. Government entities on local procurement and PDM-A’s services;
• Market PDM-A’s services to local suppliers;
• Conduct any other duties as assigned by the PM-USG.

Job Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of Afghan businesses in Afghanistan; particularly construction and logistics sectors;
• High school graduate/enrolled in advanced degree program;
• Fluent in Dari and excellent command of English and Pashto, both oral and written;
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and in a team;
• Strong organization and data management skills;
• Excellent communication and networking skills;
• Energetic and efficient, results oriented.
