Job Summary:
Candidates for the position need a strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and must be knowledgeable about all aspects of network technology.
A background in wired/wireless equipment, standards, protocols and WLAN design is considered ideal. Candidates also must be effective communicators in order to collaborate successfully with network technicians, vendors and managers.
We would ideally look for a Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering or a related field (or equivalent work experience), plus five or more years in LAN/WAN engineering and design work, including several years specializing in wired/wireless technologies such as Fiber, Wi-Fi, WiMax and WAP. Professional certifications such as Project Management (PMP) also are valuable. Experience with Broadband over Powerline (BPL) technology is ideal.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Recruit, hire and develop project team
o Effectively recruit, screen candidates, and approve employee hires.
o Coordinate an intensive, high quality training program for newly hired project staff.
Ability to gather system and business requirements and can translate these into system design documentations
Ability to estimate project timelines and critical paths
Ability to effectively track and report on the project status including schedule, costs and overall solution
Ability to build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders including executives, customers and vendors
Works as a team lead with senior staff on large, complex technical projects
Provide input on how to improve the existing processes, operational efficiencies of the system and recommend improvement initiatives
Analyzes complex problems, develops and implements solutions, and makes decisions that significantly impact project(s)
Completes assigned projects on time, on budget and on scope
Monitor technology trends; recommend new products and strategies as appropriate.
Troubleshooting enterprise data, voice and video networks
Troubleshooting wireless network, both enterprise and guest access
Maintaining a secure transfer of data to multiple locations via internal and external networks
Working with vendors, clients, carriers and technical staff on network implementation, optimization and ongoing management
Providing high-level support and technical expertise in networking technology, including LAN/WAN hardware, hubs, bridges and routers.
Provide DR or backup analysis and recommendation in event of a major failure.
Recommendations on best practices when using network technologies such as access, security, bandwidth throttling, DHCP scope limits and options, etc.
Perform other duties and tasks as designated by the Supervisor & Top Management
Job Requirement:
1. REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
4+ years of relevant work experience
Certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) an asset
Certified Business Analyst an asset
PC and desktop application expertise (e.g., Microsoft Office, e mail, etc.)
Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, standards, and procedures
Strong technical and analytical skills
Strong organizational and problem solving abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills
2-3 years’ experience with utility operations/projects is an asset
Experience with inventory management systems and work order management systems an asset
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Advanced understanding of Cisco IOS for routers, switches, and firewalls
Advanced understanding HP and Dell OS for enterprise switches
Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
Solid working knowledge of Cisco Meraki wireless access points
Management of multiple VLAN environment used for data, voice, AV, servers, and wireless
VPN/DMVPN tunneling encryption and protocols
MPLS circuit implementation.
