Internews has worked in Afghanistan since 2002 to further the development of independent media and access to the information
Internews is seeking an Afghan Project Manager to lead the implementation of a five-month media capacity building project to address rumour and misinformation during COVID-19. Under this project, Internews will work with local partners to collect, analyse and respond to community perspectives related to the pandemic as well as connecting humanitarian actors with community perspectives to improve communication efforts. The project also aims to provide training to journalists to improve the standard of health and science reporting.
The Project Manager position requires an energetic individual with extensive experience managing programs in Afghanistan. Previous experience in the media sector and experience in derlivering humanitarian or development projects is an advantage. The Project Manager will be expected to oversee the roll out and implementation of the project, and work with Internews partners to ensure the effective delivery of project activities. He/She must have strong communication and time management skills, as well as the ability to work independently and with initiative. Qualified women are encouraged to apply for this position
Duties & Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Internews team to implement the activities.
Manage the implementation of all aspects of the project, including coordinating the delivery of activities and program reports.
Monitor project progress, identify and address any potential problems.
Develop and maintain a close relationship with media and other stakeholders to further project goals.
Document project successes and learning to contribute to the organizational knowledge base
o Minimum 5 years project management experience
o University degree or diploma
o Management and team building skills and experience
o Understanding of gender issues
o Good understanding of the media environment in Afghanistan
o Good English writing and speaking skills
o Fluency in Dari (Pashto an advantage)
o Experience managing remote teams an advantage
o Computer, internet and social media literacy
o Good communication skills
