The Public Affairs Officer will be in charge of all major Public Affairs activities and will be working directly with Arghandab District Governor in collaboration with Governor Advisor from IDLG and ASI Program Coordinator.
ï‚§ Participate and contribute to the District Government weekly meetings;
ï‚§ Advise the District Governor on messaging and talking points while speaking at press conference and meetings.
ï‚§ Advise on Rapid Response Messaging through writing press releases and organizing press conferences and events;
ï‚§ Writing and distributing press releases to targeted media;
ï‚§ Identify/generate, capitalize and manage communication opportunities;
ï‚§ Liaising with and answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organizations;
ï‚§ Liaising with key stakeholders on all communication activities;
ï‚§ Carry out ongoing media monitoring;
ï‚§ Preparing and supervising the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programs;
ï‚§ Organizing events including press conferences, exhibitions, open days and press tours;
ï‚§ Fostering community relations through events such as open days and through involvement in community initiatives;
ï‚§ Advise and assist to develop tailored media products such as radio, video and print.
ï‚§ Managing the PR aspect of potential crisis situations.
ï‚§ Other Tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
- The Successful applicant will have a relevant academic or professional working experience,
- Solid knowledge of Kandahar Province and a good network within the region,
- Have good organizational skills, high integrity and good inter-personal skills.
- Fluent in Pashto and English languages
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office packages and Internet.
