Job Summary

The key results have an impact on the help convince a larger population to understand the benefits and long-term impact of the project, i.e. more commanders will accept to disband their group and convince more to adhere to the project.

Duties & Responsibilities

Summary of key functions:
• Support to formulation and implementation of information and sensitization strategies
• Organization of PI mobile campaigns in the region
• Providing Regional Office with feedback on the perception of DIAG and act in response, Coordinate in Monitoring and Evaluation issues with CO
• Ensure Facilitation knowledge building and management

1- Ensures the Support to formulation and implementation of information and sensitization strategies focusing on the achievement of the following results:
• Elaborates speeches and public documents aimed at creating a general climate favorable to DIAG;
• Once cleared by the ROM, the PI Associate disseminates the elaborated material as well as the sensitization material provided by PI Central Office;
• In coordination with the ROM, organize public gatherings and addressing audiences;
• Review of reference materials, identification of reference materials for distribution;
• Provision of inputs and information for elaboration of CO Public Information (PI) strategy based on the corporate PI strategy, provide PI CO with inputs for publications, photographs etc;
• Research and retrieval of data from relevant sources.

2- Ensures the Organization of PI mobile campaigns in the regions and coordinate M and E issues at the regional office, focusing on the achievement of the following results:
• Responsible for briefing authorities prior to the event; convince them to take the floor and support DIAG message.
• Responsible for coordinating the venues, dates and locations, as well as the invitations to the public and the local authorities;
• Responsible for coordinating the logistical aspects of mission, along with ANBP administration.

3- Ensures providing Regional Office with feedback on the perception of DIAG and act in response, focusing on the achievement of the following results:
• Keeps the ROM and PI abreast of the public’s perception towards DIAG in his/her AOR (media monitoring, mission reports, feedback on the sensitization activities under his/her responsibility) and provide inputs for PI Publications;
• Coordinate and Assist in Monitoring and Evaluation issues at the regional office.
4- Ensures facilitation of knowledge building and management focusing on achievement of the following results:

• Support to CO/RO staff in identification, documenting and drafting of best practices and lessons learned;
• Organization of training for the RO staff on effective communications and advocacy;
• Perform any other task when required.

Job Requirements

Education:
• Secondary education is required. University degree in journalism, communications, political science or sociology will be a distinct advantage.

Experience:
• 5-6 years experience as a journalist or as a public information assistant, preferably in an international organization.
• 2-4 years experience required with Bachelors degree
• Must be computer literate, and able to use MS Word and MS Excel
• Ability to work in a team and adapt quickly to a fast – paced work environment.
• Ability to start work at short notice

Language requirements:
• Good written and oral English is required.
• Fluent in Pashto and Dari. Able to translate rapidly from and into English, Dari and Pashto.
• Willingness to work in a multi cultural environment.
• Good knowledge of local languages besides Dari and Pashto spoken by ethnic minorities in the target region will be an asset.
