Job Summary

Project Description: This project is funded by USAID through IOM and monitored by IRD. The project is construction of Teacher Training Center in Maidan Wardak province. The building will be constructed with CMU Block (grout center-filled) with RCC rebar according to the standards of USAID and US Corps of Engineering.

Duties & Responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
To provide construction facilities with inspection and quality control services and support to improve inspection quality systems, construction processes and construction quality.
You will be based in the project site and will be responsible to manage the company’s quality system by ensuring that appropriate procedures are in place and being followed consistently and are in compliance with the relevant standard.
The QC Engineer would be on the site and be familiar with the USAID Standards for quality control system.
The responsibilities of the QC Engineer will include but are not limited to:
1. Provide direct service to site engineers in inspection quality applications, tools techniques and systems.
2. Participate and support inspection quality improvement processes based on a range of tools and techniques.
3. Ability to generate and improve upon inspection instructions and concise inspection reports.
4. Flexibility to regulate work in different environments across the site.
5. Project monitoring/evaluation and report writing.
6. Ensure effectiveness and efficiency of the project.
7. Determine project seasonal duration for project implementation.
8. Having an appropriate work plan for his activities.
9. Knowledge of international standard (ACI Code, ASTM etc) construction materials, laboratory equipments and testing is desirable.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1. Bachelor Degree, Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
2. Should have a QC Certificate.
3. A good background in inspection and controlling quality of USAID projects.
4. High knowledge about international and American standards for quality control system.
5. Be familiar with engineering (QC) technical terms in English.
6. Ability to understand engineering drawings, technical specifications and standards.
7. Strong command over computer software e.g. MS-Office
8. Ability to work under pressure and without supervision.
9. Flexibility in working hours.
10. Strong command over English, Pashto and Dari Languages (verbal and written).
11. 5 years experience in similar capacity with having good technical qualification.
12. Experience in working with international organization is desirable.
Note: Only those engineers who have experience in CMU Block buildings as mentioned in project description will be preferred.
