Objectives:
This position has functional responsibility for the Microbiology lab units located at the regional reference and provincial labs (mentioned in above table). He/She is also responsible for preparing QC testing scheme, ATCC strains and internal quality control measures as per approved EQA guideline for GF-HSS lab project.
QC is examining “control” materials of known substances along with patient samples to monitor the accuracy and precision of the complete examination (analytic) process. The primary objective of this unit is to functionalize Provincial Labs (PLs) and enable lab team to utilize the available services and then implement quality improvement initiatives within their laboratory and for the greater benefit of all Lab Network in Afghanistan.
Responsibilities
CPHL QC unit technologist is responsible to prepare QC samples for bacteriology at provincial levels and virology and ELISA samples at regional levels laboratories, as per approved EQA guideline with close collaboration of CPHL department heads;
Responsible for frequent visits and on the job training at provincial targeted labs to enable them utilizes the available lab assets and provide bacteriology services;
Work closely with CPHL Bacteriology, ELISA, PCR and other units for establishment of QC program for the required stages of laboratory testing;
Work closely with CHPL-GF HSS team for quality system essential elements as recommended by WHO for Lab Quality Management System (LQMS) step-wise approach.
To ensure that lab staffs are performing quality testing to attain all of the competencies outlined in the Objectives of GF HSS Lab Project, successfully pass their quality Control examinations tests;
Responsible for preparing standard reports and feedbacks (pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical parts) for improvement of lab services under GF-HSS quality control program;
Any other tasks requested by the respected PHD for technical support and the CPHL directorate/GF HSS lab project manager for the sake of well establishment of QC program for laboratory services.
Qualifications and experience:
Medical Technologist;
2 years working experience in Medical Laboratory , practically running Bacteriology Culture services in diagnostic or research laboratory;
Self-directed, team player with good interpersonal, sound negotiation and problem solving skills;
Ability to travel to the provincial levels for on the job training (OJT) to secure and non-secure provinces;
Ability of using/maintaining lab equipment related to bacteriology and bench person will be preferred;
Fluency in English Language (writing, reading, speaking)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
