University Reasearch Co.,LLC Health Care Improvement HCI, Multi Location
The Health Care Improvement Project (HCI) is a global health care improvement project funded by USAID and implemented by University Research Co., LLC, dedicated to improving quality of health care through adaptation of modern Quality Improvement (QI) methods in USAID-assisted countries. The Afghanistan HCI project, launched in January 2009, is working closely with the Afghanistan MOPH, implementing NGO’s and partners to build national and regional capacity in use of modern (QI) methods to achieve sustainable improved health care services for leading causes of mortality and morbidity.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Assist the Quality Assurance/Improvement Coordinator to develop an annual action plan for the Unit
• Assist in the provision of technical assistance to MOPH departments to improve the quality of services through QA and QI methodologies
• Analyze the need for appropriate and relevant training on quality assurance and quality improvement for MoPH central provincial and district health care administrators and providers
• Assist in the coordination of central quality assurance/improvement committees, circulating invitations for meetings and recording and distributing minutes to participants conduct regular field visits to support provincial and/or district quality assurance/quality improvement team members and health facility staff attend to policy issues that may arise in regard to quality assurance/improvement of health services
• Provide regular reports on work plan progress to Quality Assurance/Improvement Coordinator
• Perform other duties as assigned by his/her supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate from recognized medical college
MPH Degree Preferred
Experience working with national/international NGOs and public sector institutions in Afghanistan’s health sector, including MOPH
Experience working with BPHS, EPHS and CBHC programs
Demonstrated proficiency in competency-based clinical training and/or quality assurance/improvement, or the ability and willingness to rapidly increase skills
Spoken and written competence in Pashto, Dari and English
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
Good computer skills, including competence in word processing and internet/e-mail
Ability and willingness to travel to provincial capitals and rural areas of Afghanistan
