About Media Operations Centers:
Media Operations Centers (MOCs) is a U.S. Embassy Funded Project, operating in four Afghan Universities namely Kabul, Balkh, Herat, and Kandahar Universities. Its Mission is to improve the skills of journalism students at mentioned universities in the areas of print, radio, and television reporting.
The Radio Studio Technician will work under the Media Operations Center (MOC) Center Manager Managing and performing audio recording, audio editing and acoustic paneling system.
Provinces to travel:
High level proficiency in MS Office applications
Adobe Audition (CS4, CS5 and CC)
Pro tools Software
Radio Sound Mixer
Setting Radio Devices
Good experience of Radio On Air department
Duties & Responsibilities:
Ensuring the timely provision of technical supports and services to enable the smooth operation of Radio studios, classrooms, workshops, and other facilities as assigned.
Working in conjunction with Academic and other staff to plan and provide the necessary materials, equipment and technical assistance required by staff, students and clients of the host university.
Provide and facilitate the training programs on the usage of Radio studio equipment.
Handling microphones, sound mixers, software, computers in Radio studios to produce, direct and edit Audio recordings.
To broadcast radio programs through radio transmission room (Analogue System) and FM channel.
Managing and performing audio recording, audio editing and acoustic paneling system
Conferring with producers, performers, and others in order to determine and achieve the desired sound for a production such as a musical recording or a film
Mixing and editing voices, music, and taped sound effects for live performances and for prerecorded events, using sound mixing boards.
Recording speech, music, and other sounds on recording media, using recording equipment.
Regulating volume level and sound quality during recording sessions, using control consoles.
Reproducing and duplicating sound recordings from original recording media, using sound editing and duplication equipment.
Separating instruments, vocals, and other sounds, then combine sounds later during the mixing or post-production stage.
Setting up, testing, and adjusting recording equipment for recording sessions and live performances; tear down equipment after event completion.
Synchronizing and equalizing prerecorded dialogue, music, and sound effects with visual action of motion pictures or television productions, using control consoles.
Creating musical instrument and digital interface programs for music projects, commercials or film post-production.
Keeping logs of recordings.
Preparing for recording sessions by performing activities such as selecting and setting up microphones.
Reporting equipment problems, and ensure that required repairs are made
Over sight, cleaning, maintenance, repair and replacement of electronic equipment, including cables, microphones, computers, tapes and other equipment in the recording studio
Regularly inspecting gear for damage and wear, and will respond to immediate needs for troubleshooting and replacement of equipment during recording sessions
Setting up and operating the audio equipment and in the recording studio
Participating in production and may give direction to other equipment operators
Any Other duties assigned by the supervisor
Job Location:Afghanistan, Kandahar
Bachelor Degree preferred
Minimum two years professional experience
Very strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral)
Good written communication skills in English
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to provide training
