Job Summary:

Purpose:
The Regional Director will be responsible for day-to-day operations, staff, and facilities of the Jalalabad regional office, including work in urban and rural areas, and within all of the office’s respective provinces.

Previous working experience in eastern Afghanistan, preferably Jalalabad

Strong communications and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience representing a project or organization to external audiences

Duties & Responsibilities:

Specific Objectives and Duties:

Supervises regional office staff

Serves as primary point of contact for Musharikat in the region

Facilitates a feedback loop to Kabul office on programmatic progress and potential issues

Alongside Kabul-based team helps develop annual workplans, and travel to each of the office’s respective provinces to ensure its execution

Develops and evaluates grant concepts with senior staff

Leads engagement efforts in the region to identify civil society organizations (CSOs)

Partners closely with Leader Group members

Oversees training and capacity building of regional (urban and rural) CSOs that are part of the Musharikat coalition

Manages regional office budget and handles petty cash account; records petty cash transactions and reports disbursements weekly to Musharikat Finance Manager in Kabul

Coordinates with other PROMOTE, USG, and relevant donor programs working in region

Contributes to project activities planning, reports, and deliverables in compliance with DAI and USAID rules and policies

Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

Master degree with 5 year relevant experience or Bachelor degree with 10 years of relevant experience, with donor-funded programming focusing on capacity building, institutional development, civil society organizations and/or related programming areas

Previous working experience in eastern Afghanistan, preferably Jalalabad

Strong communications and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience representing a project or organization to external audiences

Knowledgeable about civil society organizations in eastern Afghanistan, preferably women’s organizations

At least 2 years of experience working with USAID-funded programs, providing administrative support

Previous experience supervising teams of technical and support staff, monitoring performance and mentoring staff.

The Regional Director – Jalalabad will report to the Chief of Party.
