PURPOSE:
The Regional Internship and Apprenticeship Coordinator (RIAC) will be based in one of five WIE regional offices and will report to the {TBD}. The RIAC will be responsible for implementation of WIE internship and apprenticeship programs and will support and manage the Provincial Internship and Apprenticeship Coordinators (PIACs), collect and process documentation for internships and apprenticeships, establish relationships with employers and relevant stakeholders, and identify opportunities for work experience placements. The RIAC will also work with the Regional Training Coordinator and with business service providers to provide job readiness and other training to WIE interns and apprentices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. In close coordination and with input from the Kabul HQ based Senior Internship and Apprenticeship Coordinator (SIAC), provide leadership, oversight and coordination for regional internship and apprenticeship program activities under the direction of the {TBD}.
2. Ensure internship and apprenticeship program activity approaches are understood and procedures are followed by PIACs. Facilitate outreach to, identification and selection of businesses to host interns and apprentices in the region. Facilitate outreach to, identification and selection of businesses by developing regional communications and outreach activities, by contracting with business service providers in the region and partnering with relevant educational institutions, NGOs and other service providers.
3. Assist in outreach to, recruitment and placement of interns and apprentices. Ensure interns and apprentices are properly screened, receive pre-employment training or orientation, and are appropriately matched to positions. Contribute to career days, networking & other job information events in coordination with the Workforce Development Case Officer.
4. Coordinate closely with Regional Workforce Development Case Officers to assist women who are completing internships and apprenticeships to secure places of employment.
5. Coordinate closely with Regional Service Centers and the M&E specialist in the region to monitor internship programs.
University Degree
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, with 3 to 5 years implementing professional development, training, or community outreach programs.
Familiarity with regional businesses and employers, ability to conduct professional outreach to and engage with Afghan businesses is essential.
Familiarity with internship, apprenticeship, and on-the-job training programs.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks with various deadlines.
Strong communication skills, ability to motivate team members.
Previous experience with international organizations or donor-funded programs, preferred.
Previous experience developing gender-sensitive training preferred.
Fluency in English and in Dari or Pashto (depending on location).
Must be proficient in the use of computers and computer software, and familiar with databases.
Must be able to travel throughout the provinces in your region of work.
