Job Summary

Chemonics International, a leading international development consulting firm, seeks a regulatory advisor for an anticipated USAID-funded energy sector improvement program. The objective of the program is to improve access to reliable and affordable clean energy, improve regulations and governance in the energy sector, demonstrate the use of innovative technologies and busines models, and assist with the transition to a low-carbon development trajectory.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Regulatory Advisor may be asked to carry out activities such as: examining and assessing the effectiveness of laws and regulations and their application for implementing clean energy policies; developing and recommending options for improvements in policies, laws, and regulations and
for strengthening local, national, and regional institutional and regulatory structures for improving the
monitoring and enforcement of clean energy policies and their performance; assessing the legal and regulatory aspects of traditional, cultural, and codified property rights; and examining the legal and regulatory aspects of a country's energy sector and developing options and
recommendations for strengthening problematic administrative policies, laws, regulations, roles, and
responsibilities.

Job Requirements

Advanced degree in engineering, economics, environmental policy or law.
Prior international donor experience on similar projects
At least 5 years of applicable technical and professional experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Fluency in English (written and spoken)
