Job Summary

Research:
o Conducting qualitative research using individual interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs).
o Transcription and translation of the interview notes and other relevant documents from Pashto and Dari to English and vice versa.
o Data verification and filling of gaps
o Assist the lead person of the project in data analysis and report writing.

Duties & Responsibilities

Research:
o Conducting qualitative research using individual interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs).
o Transcription and translation of the interview notes and other relevant documents from Pashto and Dari to English and vice versa.
o Data verification and filling of gaps
o Assist the lead person of the project in data analysis and report writing.
Administrative Tasks:
o Keep track of project activities and work on reporting to the donor.
o Assist with keeping in contact with surveyors, interview partners at national and international, governmental and non-governmental organizations and other contacts in the field
o Assist with organizational tasks directly related to the research projects, especially during the stay in the field.

Job Requirements

The duty station is Kabul, but the position requires willingness and ability to visit the project-related areas of activities (Northeast: Kunduz, Takhar, Baghlan).

Requirements
1. High School degree
2. Strong communication skills (especially in Pashtu, Dari and English)
3. Good control over written and spoken English, and ability to translate Dari/Pashtu data into English, some English to Dari/Pashtun might be required.
4. Computer literacy (Microsoft Office package — Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
5. Flexible, stress resistant and ability to travel extensively according to the project requirement and ability to work and travel in the field with national and international staff.
6. Research experience, especially in qualitative research (interviews and focus group discussions) is desired
7. Previous knowledge of the North (or willingness to learn) is desire
