About Future Generations Afghanistan:
This position is responsible for leadership and management of the research dimensions of the project and will be part of a Project Management Team with the Project Co-Directors. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the development and peace/security literature, possess solid social science research skills, and be capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Good communications skills are necessary for regular, professional interaction with the projectâ€™s Steering Committee, consisting of the projectâ€™s local and international partners.
Duties & Responsibilities:
â€¢ Provide substantive guidance and direction to the research phase of the project;
â€¢ Manage overall task and information flow and ensure team members and consultants execute responsibilities and achieve expected results;
â€¢ Contribute to the development of conceptual and analytical tools for analyzing national-level data sets;
â€¢ Design survey instruments and research protocols for field research;
â€¢ Train and supervise field researchers;
â€¢ Hire and manage project consultants;
â€¢ Organize project meetings, workshops, and conferences;
â€¢ Contribute to the preparation of project-related materials such as summaries, proposals, reports, and newsletters.
â€¢ A Master's Degree or higher in the social sciences is required.
â€¢ Experience in the security, development and peacebuilding fields are preferred.
â€¢ Outstanding research and writing skills are essential.
â€¢ Three to five years of experience in relevant field.
â€¢ Must be willing to travel to provinces.
