Future Generations Afghanistan, Multi Location
This position is responsible for leadership and management of the research dimensions of the project and will be part of a Project Management Team with the Project Co-Directors. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the development and peace/security literature, possess solid social science research skills, and be capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Good communications skills are necessary for regular, professional interaction with the project’s Steering Committee, consisting of the project’s local and international partners.
• Provide substantive guidance and direction to the research phase of the project;
• Manage overall task and information flow and ensure team members and consultants execute responsibilities and achieve expected results;
• Contribute to the development of conceptual and analytical tools for analyzing national-level data sets;
• Design survey instruments and research protocols for field research;
• Train and supervise field researchers;
• Hire and manage project consultants;
• Organize project meetings, workshops, and conferences;
• Contribute to the preparation of project-related materials such as summaries, proposals, reports, and newsletters.
• A Master's Degree or higher in the social sciences is required.
• Experience in the security, development and peacebuilding fields are preferred.
• Outstanding research and writing skills are essential.
• Three to five years of experience in relevant field.
• Must be willing to travel to provinces.
