The researcher has overall responsibility for the research components of the Justice Sector Assessment. S/he will be mainly responsible for conducting surveys and research in order to gauge how Kunduz citizens perceives the services delivered by Kunduz justice sectors. The researcher will oversee the work of surveyors to ensure that all deliverables are produced on time and to a high quality. S/he will be the main point of call between the research team, and Integrity Watch Afghanistan.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design of the research
Help developing research methodology to measure the perception of people in regard to services provided by Kunduz Justice Sectors.
Help designing research instruments that the survey teams will use.
Help designing sampling plan, and work plan for the project
Conducting of the research
Ensure that the survey quality of work and their completion according to a strict timeline.
Participate in conducting of surveys along the survey teams.
Conduct secondary/desk research on reports published, services, and on laws regulating the Kunduz Justice Sector.
Work closely with CBM-T teams in order to maximize impact of Justice Sector Assessment.
Write-up of the research
Help analysing the data collected through surveys.
Help presenting draft report and finding to the management and teams.
Help writing a narrative analytical report that combines the desk research with qualitative data collected and analysed from other Assessments.
Full report will be in English. If possible, oversee translation of report into Pashto and Dari ensuring appropriate terminology.
Help revised the report based upon internal peer and board reviewer’s feedback and comments.
Fluency in written and spoken English, Pashto and Dari.
Bachelor in political science, law, research or another related social science.
At least 5 years’ experience working in the field of research and social science.
Proven interest in issues of justice, integrity, social accountability, anti-corruptions and good governance in Afghanistan.
Excellent understanding of the legal framework and actual practice of Justice Sector Assessment.
Familiarity with social accountability discourse.
Ability to write succinctly and for a non-academic audience.
Proven ability of evidence-based research in the field of social accountability, anti-corruption and good governance.
Good communication, interpersonal and analytical skills and team player.
Ability to think and work logically and work precisely with attention to details.
Excellent computer skills, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
